Case Management

Our commitment to supporting neighbors on their journey from homelessness to housing stability shines through our Case Management Department. In the past year alone, our dedicated team has housed over 80 neighbors in affordable housing communities across Tulare County, with even more since the department's inception. We offer referrals to essential services like public benefits, mental health counseling, substance abuse programs, and transportation assistance. Salt + Light's unique approach to case management focuses on building relationships and fostering community support prior, during, and after housing. Our ongoing assistance, connection, and relationship with neighbors once housed is key to their success.

Peer Support

At Salt + Light, we understand that transitioning from homelessness to stable housing is a significant challenge. Our commitment extends beyond providing shelter; we offer ongoing support through this crucial transition and beyond. Our Neighbor Care department offers Peer Support to individuals both during their time experiencing homelessness and after they have moved into housing. Peer support is a proven strategy that builds trust and fosters understanding among those seeking help. Our peer support workers, who have lived experience, provide a unique and powerful connection with our clients. These relationships, built on trust and empathy, create a supportive environment where individuals feel empowered to take meaningful steps toward stability and healing.

LMFT Services

The inclusion of a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) further enhances the support system provided by the Neighbor Care program. The LMFT offers individual and group therapy sessions, addressing the mental health needs of neighbors on our client list. Additionally, the LMFT facilitates group therapy classes and life skills classes specifically tailored to the needs of individuals living in affordable housing projects. Our LMFT employs dialectic behavior therapy, which is short term therapy to help with stress management, coping strategies, and transition classes for lifeskills. There are also somatic movements or yoga groups available for neighbors, which focuses on breath to promote feeling grounded. Our LMFT plays a crucial role in providing comprehensive mental health support tailored to the unique needs of our community members.
